Born and raised in the West Side of Buffalo, Gabriel Burgos Nieves has remained dedicated to the growth of his neighborhood. Gabe believes in the power of connecting people through food & beverage; he is currently one of the Worker/Owners at Extra Extra, Buffalo’s first cooperatively owned & tip-less restaurant. His passion for community is reflected in his work done at Extra Extra, where several programs were created to help support local organizations throughout Buffalo. Gabriel believes in the cooperative business movement in the city, demonstrating his commitment to community based models by serving both on Cooperation Buffalo’s board as well as an advisory member for Good Neighbors Credit Union.

His background includes overseeing both financial & operational strategy within the hospitality sector, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Buffalo State. After 15+ years of dealing with challenges presented in traditional restaurants, Gabriel wants to work to create spaces that are equitable & sustainable for the everyday worker. He believes that the successful work done by cooperative models can be the way to create better working environments for all!
