Farmer Pirates Compost has been providing compost and composting services to the Buffalo area since 2014. With the assistance of Cooperation Buffalo, Farmer Pirates Compost is becoming a worker owned cooperative in 2023. Farmer Pirates Compost's mission is to improve the health of urban soils by converting food scraps into a valuable soil amendment; at the same time, diverting these food scraps from the landfill makes a significant contribution to the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. While providing these two services to the ecology, Farmer Pirates also generates employment and supports a circular economy where nothing is wasted.
